Helping to keep the historical context of social architecture alive

Janice Gooch MSc CHE AssocRICS IHBC ACIfA.

At Janice Gooch Heritage Consultancy, we focus on historic building conservation projects. We work with other consultants, planners, architects and home owners to ensure that a full understanding of the building or heritage asset is known, highlighting what is and is not significant.

What I Offer

Understanding, Knowledge and Experience

In 2008, Janice Gooch obtained her Masters in the Conservation of the Historic Environment, with a dissertation (awarded Distinction) about 17th century social and architectural history.

Additionally, Janice have written several design guidance's, including shop front design. She has also contributed to the IHBC’s revised “Stitch in Time” document (released online 2016) and the Historic England’s Flooding guidance.

Disused areas of historic buildings can be neglected

Janice has more than 14 years of experience working with historic establishments as a building surveyor as well as a design and conservation officer.

As a building surveyor, she is trained to survey, specify and undertake contract administration for projects of all scales. This allows her to fully understand historic structures and materials.

Janice has gained valuable skills and knowledge from working as a Conservation Officer and a Building Surveyor for The National Trust. These roles have given her the opportunities to have public and community involvements.
